When the PGA Championship tees off on Thursday, players from the United States will be trying to do something that hasn't happened since Mickelson at the 2010 Masters -- win a major title.

In the current World Golf Rankings there are four U.S. players -- Steve Stricker (5th), Mickelson (6th), Dustin Johnson (8th) and Nick Watney (10th) -- but only Mickelson has won a major.
You would have to go to No. 19 and David Toms (who won the 2001 PGA at the Atlanta Athletic Club in 2001) to find someone who has hoisted the big trophies.
The law of big numbers would say the PGA would seem like a place for the USA to back on track. Ten of the past 15 winners have been local. However, the last three -- Martin Kaymer (Germany), Y.E. Yang (South Korea) and Padraig Harrington (Ireland) -- were won by foreign golfers.
