Report: Jefferson, 3 other LSU players to meet with police Monday

Four LSU players, including quarterback Jordan Jefferson, will meet with police officials Monday to give their account of a bar fight that occurred early Friday morning, according to The Times-Picayune

Sgt. Don Stone, a Baton Rouge police public information officer, confirmed to the newspaper that LSU has been contacted and asked about Jefferson, OT Chris Davenport, DT Josh Downs and WR Jarvis Landry.

Sportsnola.com earlier reported that Jefferson and Davenport would be arrested Monday for second degree battery ? and Downs and Landry for simple battery ? but Stone did not confirm that to The Times-Picayune.

"There are no warrants for arrest for anyone," Stone said in the report. "We want to hear their side so we can further our investigation. We're at a point where we want to interview them and then decide what we're going to do."

Stone previously had announced that four people, none of whom are football players, were taken to the hospital after a fight at Shady?s, a bar near LSU?s campus, Friday around 2 a.m. Those four, Stone said, plan to press charges.

Les Miles and a group of 22 players who comprise the team?s Unity Council met with the media for a short time Saturday afternoon.

?I can tell you that the last couple of days have been miserable for us, that we've been involved in behavior that's unacceptable to me, certainly unacceptable to our team ? guys that broke team rules and violated curfew," Miles told reporters. "I can tell you and assure you that this will not happen again. I can tell you that there's a remorseful team here.

"I personally want to apologize for the actions of my team."
