PBT: OKC's Perkins reportedly arrested in Texas

So Stephen Jackson, Rajon Rondo, Eric Maynor, and Kevin Durant were in Beaumont, Texas for a charity event put together by Kendrick Perkins, who?s from Beaumont. There was supposed to be a charity game today, but that?s not going to be happening. From KFDM in Beaumont:

KFDM has confirmed that NBA star Kendrick Perkins was arrested in Beaumont early Saturday morning. He was booked into the Jefferson County jail around 4:00a.m. on charges of public intoxication and disorderly conduct. The charges are a class C misdemeanor. Per Texas penal code 12.23, an individual guilty of a class C misdemeanor shall be punished by a fine not to exceed $500. Perkins posted bond of $150 shortly after being booked and were released.

The arrest comes after Perkins reportedly had an accident at Stephen Jackson?s home in Port Arthur late Thursday night. KFDM confirmed a 27 year old male was taken from Jackson?s home by ambulance to the Medical Center of Southeast Texas. The subject was treated for minor injuries and released.

Sounds like somebody?s been partying a little too hard in the lockout. There are other less credible reports regarding a possible fight that occurred, but that hasn?t been confirmed by valid sources at this time. The Thunder have been free of these kinds of incidents thanks to how they?ve put their roster together. So this is kind of a landmark for them, even if it?s just a tiny incident. Getting tagged for public intox isn?t the worst thing in the world, provided the other reports of a potentially armed conflict are untrue. This can?t really get chalked up to the lockout, though, as Perkins had the charity event scheduled beforehand. Bummer for the kids looking forward to it in Beaumont, though.

Earlier reports had involved Jackson, but have since been contracted, which is good news.

We?ll keep you updated on any further ramifications from the incident.
