Injured Polanco expects to play in All-Star game

MIAMI - Philadelphia Phillies third baseman Placido Polanco is still out of the lineup because of a sore back but expects to start in the All-Star game next week.

Polanco plans to see a specialist when the team returns home for a weekend series against Atlanta.

Polanco was held out of the Phillies' starting lineup for the second game in a row Wednesday at Florida. He said his back has been bothering him for about a month, and his average has slipped nearly 50 points since June 1.

The All-Star game is Tuesday in Phoenix. Polanco was elected to start for the second time.
