In some ways, New Jersey shooting guard prospect Myles Davis can't make up his mind.
In one way, he has: He will play college basketball at Xavier starting in 2012.
Davis (6-1, 195) is considered one of the top shooters in the prep senior class and plays at Notre Dame Prep in Fitchburg, Mass. Three times in the past week, Davis changed his mind about when he would choose a college. He told SportsNet New York last Tuesday at the Nike EYBL at the Peach Jam tournament he would make an announcement three days later. Last Thursday, he told Sporting News he would delay his decision until August.
And then late Monday, Davis announced on Twitter he had committed to Xavier.
Davis views Xavier as an elite program and perceives a huge opportunity to gain immediate playing time because All-American guard Tu Holloway will complete his career this spring.
?I didn?t see any wrong or negative with Xavier,? Davis told Scout.com. ?It is a top-25 program every year. With Tu leaving, that allows me to play. Also, they have Dez Wells coming in and Sim (Bhullar) is coming in with me, and a bunch of other guys. It is just the right situation for me.?
Davis had to take emotion out of the decision to select Xavier. He told Sporting News last week that Georgetown was his "dream school," the program he followed as a kid. He is a cousin of Pitt assistant Brandin Knight, and the two are extremely close.
?I had to break it to Brandin; it was hard,? Davis told Scout. ?Brandin is a brother to me, but I know he wouldn?t be mad at me. He wants what is best for me.?
