Penn State students fill streets in support of Paterno

More than 1,000 Penn State students headed to campus streets following the firing of Nittany Lions coach Joe Paterno on Wednesday evening, The Patriot-News reported.

Police in riot gear were on hand to combat the situation, as the students moved to various places, singing the school?s alma mater, professing their love of their former coach and denouncing Jerry Sandusky, the former defensive coordinator whose alleged actions of child sex abuse resulted in Paterno?s dismissal, and that of school president Graham Spanier.

Just a day earlier, as many students gathered at Paterno?s home in a show of support for the coach. He was barred from addressing the media during his regularly scheduled Tuesday press conference.
