Andre Ethier's season is over. Is his career with the Los Angeles Dodgers done as well?
The All-Star outfielder, whose season began with a captivating 30-game hitting streak, will sit out the rest of the season with a knee injury that caused a recent controversy with Ethier and Dodgers management.

Dodgers manager Don Mattingly announced they were shutting Ethier down Thursday morning, according to Dylan Hernandez of the Los Angeles Times. Hernandez also reported that Ethier is headed to noted orthopedist James Andrews for another opinion on his knee.
It was Ethier's comments to Times columnist T.J. Simers, in which he appeared to intimate the club had an agenda in playing him while he was injured, that caused a stir.
Mattingly later said the comments were a shot at his integrity.
Given Ethier's poor second half -- .252 with two homers since the All-Star break -- his salary of $9.25 million that will rise through arbitration, the dust-up with management and his health, it wouldn't be shocking if the Dodgers did not tender him a contract this winter. He finished the year hitting .292 with a career-low .789 OPS.
Then again, not tendering a contract would reward Ethier by granting him free agency a year early, which the Dodgers also would be reluctant to do. And were they to tender him a contract, the market could be limited for a player likely coming off knee surgery and due to make around $10 million.
