San Francisco 49ers quarterback Alex Smith suffered a concussion during his team?s 27-24 overtime loss to the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday.
Smith showed no signs of a concussion during the game and only reported symptoms afterward, according to the 49ers. After he was examined, it was determined that he had suffered one.
According to the Sacramento Bee, Smith passed a neurological examination and was cleared by the team and an independent neurological consultant. He practiced in full on Wednesday.
The Cowboys sacked Smith six times, and he also absorbed several hits after throwing completions.
"Tough son of a gun," 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh told reporters before Smith's concussion went public. "He was making some big-time plays. I think we talked about it after each of these games, definitely watch the tape and see the same thing. Pleased with the way Alex is playing and we definitely want to play better."
