Agent: Plaxico Burress to leave jail on Monday
The agent for Plaxico Burress said the NFL receiver will exit jail on Monday.
Burress has been jailed since 2009 for a weapons conviction stemming from a self-inflicted gunshot wound at a New York City nightclub in November 2008.
Drew Rosenhaus, Burress' agent, revealed the news of Burress' release on Twitter.
Said Rosenhaus:
"I'm excited about Plax's release Monday. He'll be a highly sought after free agent once the lockout is over. He's in great shape & healthy."
Burress has said he intends to return to the NFL next season. He will turn 31 on Aug. 12.
Several teams could be in play for Burress. Philadelphia Eagles QB Michael Vick -- who returned to the NFL after a prison stint in 2009 -- said last week that he would welcome Burress on the Eagles.
News of Burress' release was applauded by Cincinnati Bengals WR Chad Ochocinco on Twitter.
Said Ochocinco:
"Plaxico Burress comes home Monday,I look forward to seeing him do his thing once again at wideout,i know he's in impeccable shape."
