NHL playoff preview: Bruins at Flyers, Game 2

The Bruins lead the Flyers 1-0 heading into Game 2 in Philadelphia on Monday.

Top story line

Can the Flyers bounce back following a Game 1 meltdown in which they were blown out 7-3? After watching film of the loss, it wasn?t a systematic breakdown that bothered coach Peter Laviolette. It was a lack of effort. Unacceptable at this point in the playoffs. ?It was pretty bad,? forward Claude Giroux said. ?It wasn?t the game we wanted.? The bright side is that the Flyers have shown a tendency to be able to forget an ugly loss and bounce back next game. ?You look around the room, we have a lot of competitive guys -- Danny Briere, Mike Richards, (Chris Pronger) -- a lot of competitive guys and that attitude really filters throughout,? Scott Hartnell said.

The pressure is on

Brian Boucher. Again. Flyers coach Peter Laviolette is going back to Boucher after his veteran goalie gave up five goals on 23 shots in Game 1 before giving way to Sergei Bobrovsky. Laviolette has seen enough in Boucher?s past and in these playoffs that he knows one bad outing isn?t necessarily a precursor for another. ?You look at the Nashville series. Vancouver has their way in Game 1 and Nashville does what they want to do in Game 2,? Laviolette said. ?Each game in the series is a chapter.?

Standout stat

0-for-26. That?s the Bruins success rate, or lack thereof, on the power play during the playoffs. It wasn?t an issue in Game 1, but it?s hard to imagine the Bruins lasting another round without at least minimal contributions from the power play.

Takeaway quote

?They?re a physical team. We knew that coming in. After that loss, I?m sure they?re going to come in even more fired up.? -- Bruins forward Nathan Horton.
