Ex-Georgetown guard to transfer to Dayton

Former Georgetown guard Vee Sanford announced Thursday that he intends to transfer to Dayton and play for new coach Archie Miller.

Sanford (6-3, 190) averaged 2.4 points in 27 games as a sophomore. He must sit out the 2011-12 season but then will have two seasons of eligibility remaining. He committed to Dayton while visiting the campus this week, saying it reminding him of his hometown, Lexington, Ky.

?It was a nice feeling being there,? Sanford told the Dayton Daily News. ?It really seemed comfortable, it?s a nice city.?

This is the second recruit landed by Miller, the younger brother of Arizona coach Sean Miller. Last week, Alexandre Gavrilovic (6-9, 230) of IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla., signed to play with the Flyers.

?He?s a player?s coach, and he?s big into player development,? Sanford said of Miller.
