Texas Rangers CEO Chuck Greenberg could resign

Texas Rangers CEO Chuck Greenberg could announce his resignation as soon as today, according to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.

Greenberg headed an investment group that purchased the team during an auction process in August.

Although there is no reason given for the resignation, the newspaper speculates that Greenberg's "method of operations" might have created disagreements among the ownership group and even Major League Baseball. The Star-Telegram notes Greenberg wasn't involved in organizational functions this past weekend, signaling that there was trouble.

The newspaper reports Greenberg, team president Nolan Ryan and more than a dozen others have an ownership stake in the Rangers.
