Lawrence Frank reportedly a candidate for Tennessee job

Boston Celtics lead assistant coach Lawrence Frank is an early candidate for the vacant Tennessee job, according to Comcast SportsNet New England.

Frank, who was the head coach for the New Jersey Nets from 2004 to 2009, was an assistant at Tennessee for three seasons under former head coach Kevin O'Neill. The opening for the Volunteers job was created Monday when Bruce Pearl was dismissed after six seasons.

Whoever takes over at Tennessee could be inheriting a program riddled with NCAA sanctions. Pearl was cited by the NCAA for committing several violations and the school is scheduled to come before the Committee on Infractions in June, at which point the school could be hit with stiff penalties.
