Mets' Carlos Beltran will be limited to four to five games a week during the spring.

General manager Sandy Alderson said Tuesday the problem has arisen because the All-Star outfielder has been compensating for his right knee.

Beltran had surgery on the knee in January 2010 and played in only 64 games last season. He will take anti-inflammatory medication before resuming baseball activities.

Beltran says his right knee feel fine.

Manager Terry Collins, in Kissimmee with a Mets split squad, said Beltran will not participate in the simulated game Tuesday, as planned.

Beltran tested his knee Sunday as the designated hitter against Boston. He singled and later scored from second with a slide home.
