Brian Cashman signs three-year deal to remain Yankees GM

The New York Yankees have re-signed senior vice president and general manager Brian Cashman to a three-year deal, the team reports.

Cashman's previous contract expired Oct. 31, though all signs pointed to the two sides coming to an agreement on a new contract.

The 44-year-old Cashman began his Yankees career as an intern in 1986 and was named general manager in 1998. During his tenure, the team has won four World Series championships, six American League pennants and 11 AL East titles. New York has missed the postseason just once (2008) in that span.

Now that ace CC Sabathia has agreed to a new extension, Cashman's biggest offseason priority is likely to be strengthening the rotation behind the big lefthander.
