Baltimore Ravens team report: Flacco flourishes in short passing game

PITTSBURGH?Baltimore Ravens offensive coordinator Cam Cameron and quarterback Joe Flacco may have found their niche with the short passing game.

Flacco looks extremely comfortable in the offense, and he completed 28 of 47 passes for 300 yards in the come-from-behind victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday night.

He engineered a game-winning 92-yard drive in the final two minutes. Compared to previous weeks, Flacco was more accurate and fewer of his passes sailed. The Ravens have been looking for an offensive identity, and they may have found it against Pittsburgh.

Notes: The Ravens apparently have solved some of their problems in the return game. Third-year player David Reed averaged 32.3 yards on four kickoff returns after looking timid vs. Arizona in Week 8. Against Pittsburgh, Reed ran more north and south than east and west, and that made the biggest difference. ?

With more and more teams sliding their protection toward OLB Terrell Suggs, the Ravens are thinking about using him as a decoy and more in coverage. Suggs lined up at the line of scrimmage a lot in the second half against Pittsburgh but dropped off into the flats. The Ravens brought pressure from the other side, a tactic that worked several times against the Steelers. Suggs didn?t have a sack, but he had an interception.
