Former Auburn player Chaz Ramsey will meet with the NCAA next week to discuss allegations that Tigers players received cash, The Birmingham News reported Wednesday.

Ramsey was one of four players who told HBO for an episode last month of "Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel" that they received cash payments -- in book bags, envelopes and even handshakes. Ramsey played at Auburn most recently, in the 2007 season.
Ramsey had been reluctant to meet with the NCAA because Auburn wanted to be represented at the interview, but he told the newspaper that the school's attorneys won't be present and the information he provides won't be disclosed.
"I wouldn't like Auburn to be there," Ramsey told the News. "The NCAA wanted to talk to me, so the NCAA is going to talk to me."
Ramsey also said he "may" know the names of coaches or boosters who provided payments to players but would not elaborate.
Ramsey said on the HBO episode that he was paid $5,000 to $6,000 while at Auburn.
"You walk out [after games] and all the fans are waiting for [players] to sign autographs and some random guy just walks up to you and shakes your hand and it's a wad full of money," said Ramsey, adding that he was given $300 or $400 a game.
Ramsey had a career-ending back injury following the 2007 season and later filed suit against Auburn's then-head athletic trainer saying that an aggressive rehabilitation program worsened the problem. He lost the suit and is appealing, according to the News.
Ramsey still plans to graduate from Auburn but is currently home in Mississippi. He told the News he is done speaking with the media.
"I'm going to talk to the NCAA sometime next week," he said, "and I'm going to leave it at that."
