Humphries says he wants to stay in New Jersey

New Jersey Nets forward Kris Humphries, an unrestricted free agent, expressed interest in sticking with his current team in an interview with the Pioneer Press.

It took Humphries nearly six seasons to become the player he was projected to be as a 19-year old NBA draft early entrant. He took advantage of the right situation and increased minuted, and partially credits the Nets and coach Avery Johnson for his turnaround.

He matured from a 4.5 point, 5.5 rebound contributor his first six seasons to 2010-11 season averages of 10.0 points and 10.4 rebounds with the Nets.

"I would love to stay in Jersey ? they gave me my opportunity and I kind of found my way into the league here," he told the Pioneer Press. "At the same time, it's a business."

Humphries said he is excited about the future of the Nets and hopes to be with the franchise.

"We got something going in New Jersey, a move to Brooklyn (N.Y.) in a new building the year after next season that's supposed to be the premier arena in the league, and I want to be part of that. I hear courtside seats already are sold out."
